1. Look to God for the
true measure of your worth…not to man!
1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on
the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth
not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD
looketh on the heart.
2. Be
first a good listener, calmly hearing another person’s point of view, before
making your own opinions heard.
James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to
hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
James 1:20 For
the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
3. Words when spoken in
love and kindness build up the hearers instead of causing them irreparable
damage.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but
that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto
the hearers.
4. Events
and circumstances shape who we become…but it’s the way we handle those
times, through our faith in God that shapes us as Christians.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good
pleasure.
5. Confidence for the
believer is not having faith in ourselves, but in someone greater than
ourselves…God!
Hebrews 11:3 Through
faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that
things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
6. No amount of darkness can hide you from God.
Psalms 139:12 Yea,
the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the
darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
7. We cleanse ourselves by becoming aware of the sin in our lives… then
repenting of it by laying it down and walking away from it.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Having
therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. |
